About Elizabeth Blythe

Elizabeth Blythe is contemporary custom jewellery design by Blythe Cronyn, with an aesthetic influenced by nostalgia, the natural world, fantasy, and mysticism. For romantics with their head in the clouds, drawn to the magical and striking.

Each and every creation is handmade with devotion from start to finish, designed by Blythe and completed in collaboration with a talented network of local artisans in Toronto, Canada. The utmost care is taken from inception in sketches to a choice of name that reflects its whimsical nature. Global awareness is a priority; each piece is cast in consciously sourced and recycled (where possible) precious metal and all gemstones are ethically sourced.

Meet the Designer

For as long as I can recall I’ve been attracted to all things miniature, captivated by the beauty in tiny details and intricacies. My personal style and approach to design are influenced by curiosity and constant exploration combined with excessive reverie, a love of fantasy, history and mythology, and a lingering belief in the existence of magic. My pieces are often inspired by a character or a line from a favourite novel, music and poetry, architecture admired on my travels, shapes and textures in the natural world, ancient myths and archetypes, or an era of design gone by. Each piece is rich with symbolism, designed to be alive with significance and to be passed on through generations, to be worn as future heirlooms.

I began working in metal when I took an introductory silversmithing class while still in university, studying political science. To say that I fell in love is an understatement; this course drastically changed the path of my life. Following graduation, after a few persistent months, I managed to secure an apprenticeship with a talented master jeweller. Working out of her studio in Toronto, I was able to hone my skills as a jeweller while assisting in her manufacturing and teaching classes. Elizabeth Blythe was established in 2014 and offers full custom design services as well as an ever evolving collection that is currently in the stages of being reimagined.

I seek to create fine adornment that transcends the fast-fashion lifestyle by embracing precious and organic materials while never compromising on quality.
